Council approves $30,000 for Pedestrian Safety

Ryde council recently unanimously secured $30,000 worth of funding for the installation of a pedestrian safety fence outside St Therese's Primary School in Denistone.  As mover of the motion, I was ecstatic with the outcome.

This is a fantastic result for the community. The school contacted me last year concerned about the welfare of their students and the general public. To secure funding and a plan for installation as we did at council shows that our community takes pedestrian safety seriously.

It is a credit to the school and to council staff that they were able to reach an agreed outcome and that council were able to move effectively and swiftly. Big thanks for this needs to go to the school's parents who raised this matter with me.

The school's drop of a pick up zone is currently quite hazardous, with an extremely steep slope, sloping towards the busy Terry Rd, Blaxland road intersection. The installation of the fence will provide a much safer area for parents with prams, the eldery and students to use.
