Press Release:

At it's meeting on 27 September 2016, the City of Ryde Council unanimously endorsed Councillor Laxale's motion to join the Macquarie Park Innovation District Group (MPID) effective immediately.

The MPID is a collection of key employers in the Park, now joined by the City of Ryde, with a vision to make Macquarie Park Australia's premier hub of innovation and collaboration.

"It is so important that Macquarie Park remains the economic powerhouse that it is. The innovation economy is the future, and as a City we must ensure that we do all we can to create jobs for our citizens.

"We have a responsibility to ensure that our City not only provides for recreation, but that it also continues to grow and provide jobs for our citizens.  Being a part of this group, will give our community a seat at the table for the future growth and planning of Macquarie Park." Clr Laxale said.

Ryde Council will join founding members AMP Capital, NAB, Optus, Abbott, Johnson and Johnson, Konica Minolta and Macquarie University.

"With innovation being thrown around as such a buzzword, I'm proud that the MPID is doing more than just talking. Public collaboration events are already planned for late 2016 and early 2017, with incubation hubs, wi-fi interconnectivity and a permanent 2000m2 facility slated for completion in the very near future." Clr Laxale said.
