Save Bundara Reserve

North Ryde has had a rough trot of late. The State Government have tried, and failed, to take green space away from us at Tennis World and Blenheim Park. Believe or not, they’re trying once more to attack open space in North Ryde.

Bundara Reserve, on the corner of Epping Road and Delhi Road, has the highest environmental protection zoning (E2 Zoning) in state law. Despite this, the State Government has lodged a proposal to threaten green space at Bundara Reserve.

Due to hyper-development in North Ryde, the Government are building a pedestrian footbridge over Delhi Road. They are attempting to modify their approved plans, which would

- threaten a significant number of trees on Bundara reserve;

- threaten adjoining E2 zoned land

- allow for 24 hour / 7 day a week works

Neither of these are necessary, and we are calling on the Planning Minister, Anthony Roberts, to refuse this application. Please sign below petition and then write a submission to the Minister.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

We call on the Minister for Planning and Member for Lane Cove, Anthony Roberts, to refuse 'Modification 4 to SSD 5093 - M2 site, North Ryde Station Urban Activation Precinct'

We believe open and green space in North Ryde is precious. This proposal threatens the ecologically protected Bundara Reserve unnecessarily.

We also believe that 24 hour, 7 day a week construction should not be supported. North Ryde has suffered enough from over-development and around the clock construction. We need a break!

What a ridiculous idea… Destroying some of the last remaining green areas is completely out of touch with the community.

You are destroying our city!!! It has become a concrete jungle…the elections can’t come soon enough! How can this be even contemplated?? We live in such a fragile environment….once the trees are gone they are gone forever and this is a tragedy!!

We feel we are being chocked in our area with over development …. There are more important things in life than money …. Please consider your rate payers and residents.

Once again, The Environment is in the Way – of PROGRESS!

A bird poo free and unshaded footbridge MUST take precedence.

This state govt will go down in History as one of the MOST DESTRUCTIVE GOVERNMENTS IN THE HISTORY OF SYDNEY.

I was accepting of the original DA plans that were extensively negotiated with the community during the original UAP, to create the necessary connection to station and minimise impact on Bundara Reserve. I believe no modifications are required. Possible cost saving exercise at expense of precious green space? Urban Growth is a government department, Governments in this case being developer and law makers, should hold the highest standards when it come to behaving consistently in the community. Modifications of agreed DAs, with short consultations periods and weak justifications, such as falling branches for a bridge bordering a bush reserves, sets poor examples to all in the community and business.

Because removal of established trees and offsetting saplings is pseudo science. Corners need full protection from sun. Exposing surfaces will just create more heat . Instead of cooling the place down they will be turning it into a high thermal mass wasteland. Also killing birds and wildlife in the process of their destruction. No thought into a scientific study of course because it would criticise their corruption.

Hello , propose something after the fact. Shows how much of a hack job they are. Don’t even consider access. And slums against a retaining wall. What idiot thought that was a good idea. Let alone over looking a motorway with carcinogenic toxic diesel fumes.

Should have become a new studio space for jobs as it originally was or office blocks for jobs. Not slums for money laundering criminals to funnel everyone onto Leighton’s stolen rail line !

    Massive economic vandalism organised crime.

I don’t even know where to start on this one! The poor thought into design, the disregard for the environment, the impact of so many units on this area already making every tree worth 1000. What a shame this government has such short sight!

As a past resident of North Ryde I am stunned that this proposal is on the agenda. I loved that little ‘green park’ positioned beautifully among cement, petrol fumes, cars, buses, noise etc, surviving and looking important in an area where the natural environment is practically non existent. Leave it there, do not destroy the O2 it creates.

I am protesting vehemently as an long standing resident of North Ryde.

This government is determined to destroy as many trees as possible. What for. Ugly high rise Units. The city of Sydney is like a rabbit warren One has only to look at the area between Wynyard. And Barangaroo. What a mess
