    Dear Jerome, as a resident of Eastwood. like many other older residents, I was appalled to find that Sydney bus transport has altered the 545 Parramatta to Chatswood bus route so that buses no longer stop at the Macquarie bus interchange outside the entrance to the centre. Now the bus stops further away in Waterloo Road which involves a struggle uphill for the elderly people and then a difficult walk back to Macquarie Centre. As most of us in the Eastwood area who rely on this bus route to reach our Doctors in the centre, to do our shopping or just meet friends and take in a movie, it is a huge blow as those with walking sticks and walkers are faced with a real difficulty to reach the centre entrance. Who in their right mind at Sydney buses would inflict such a penalty on the elderly of Eastwood? Is there any way this altered route can be reversed?

    Regards etc.,

    Just reading the article about the posters in Ryde. I’m sure I’m not the only person to say how disgusting those posters were and how they do not reflect the majority of people in Australia.

    Dear Mayor

    I have read your report to Council, and I understand your concern about the extent of housing in the Ryde area.

    There are lots of great things about Ryde and being about to have a house on a good block on land is one of them.

    But it seems you are not serious in fixing this mess.The hypocrisy in your report is unbelievable. Your Council zoned the land to allow villas, townhouses and dual occupancies all over Ryde.

    These two things will completely nullify the effect of the Medium Density Housing Code.

    But in your report it says you won’t do this because it will affect land values.

    If as you say, the LEP does not allow this – then CHANGING THE LEP WON”T AFFECT LAND VALUES.

    My reading of the new State Policy is that it only allows development where Council have zoned it. IF IT IS NOT ZONED THEN NO ONE CAN BUILD IT.

    How can people support you if your actions do you match your rhetoric.

    You do have power to change your LEP – you don’t have power to change a state policy – that only is a problem because of the mistakes of former Councillors

    Jerome, Is there any validity in the rumors that Optus and another large company at the Macquarie

    Park Industrial area are going to be afforded the opportunity to Park their motor vehicles on the 1950 designated and Gazetted County Road at the entrance off Adelphi Street, Marsfield and be conveyed to their work place by a private Bus company. So that they may be afforded privileged parking opportunity when the Railway closes down for several months for further renovations and local residents and employees in the effected areas will have to rely on Government Bus Transport . If residents and workers have to be inconvenienced by these alterations. Why are these Private companies afforded this opportunity.

    Just wanted to ask if you would be interested in getting external help with graphic design? We do all design work like banners, advertisements, photo edits, logos, flyers, etc. for a fixed monthly fee.

    We don’t charge for each task. What kind of work do you need on a regular basis? Let me know and I’ll share my portfolio with you.

    Hello Mayor Jerome Laxale

    In relation to the wildlife and non wildlife currently living in Ivanhoe Place, is there a plan for them as there are bush turkeys and possums living there as well. I understand that the humans are the ultimate priority but I hope there is something that can be done for all the animals that call Ivanhoe Place home.

    I sent you an email prior to the Bennelong election I am still waiting for your reply to this matter.

    Like all matters before the matter of urgency but I strongly believe if have council issue before you could a reply to this matter in Belmore street Ryde.

    Labour council is only as good as it’s members of residence in the area a swing could always see the return of the opposition.

    I look forward to receiving a phone call re this matter.

    I would like to ascertain your perspective on the operation of the ferries on the Parramatta River. Clearly, they represent a significant public transport facility as well as one of the few ways that ordinary citizens can enjoy our river. At the same time, as you will well know from your time with the Parramatta River Catchment Authority, their wakes have done many millions of dollars of damage to the foreshore.

    At a “meet the candidates” session last state election, I asked you all to respond to the suggestion that ferries not operating peak hour services should operate at reduced speed to minimise wake damage. Victor Dominello described this suggestion as “eminently doable!” After the election, I approached his office and eventually received a reply from a public servant contradicting the government’s own reports and stating, without evidence, that the erosion damage was not caused by the ferry operations.

    Where do you stand?

    Hi Jerome

    I like to meet with you re Belmore st Rd between Park sts and Allen st re roadworks completed some 12 months ago and still hasn’t been complete even after contact council about trip hazards and road surface. They promised it would get fixed but to date, nothing has happened my concern is someone is going and to injury, them selfs seriously.

    The other I raised with council re a disable parking sigh outside No 3 Belmore the owner of the property uses it as her own park spot because she has a disable parking permit since the work in street has been we have lost 3 parking spots in the street and staff from the shopping center use Belmore street for parking to avoid to park fees at the shopping reducing parking for locals the removal of a disable parking zone would help.

    I look forward to meeting with you to discuss these issues as council avoid to move on these issues .

    Thanks for the coffee and the chat during the council elections. Are you seriously supporting the Medicare scare campaign? Isn’t there something about bearing false witness somewhere buried deep in what you call your integrity?

    Hi Jerome

    A friend contacted me asking for urgent support. She is dying and is trying to get the bill passed so that she and others can have a choice to die with dignity. Her name is Anne Gabrielides. This bill will be voted at the NSW Parliament will vote on the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill in 2 weeks on 16 November 2017.

    Please see link
    Here is the beginning paragraph taken from the website above

    Anne A FORMER speech pathologist who now struggles to speak herself is staging a poignant campaign for the right to end her life on her own terms.

    Anne Gabrielides, from NSW’s Blue Mountains, has Motor Neurone Disease and has been given just 12 months to live. The 53-year-old says she dreads the prospect of a long, agonising death.

    “I’m becoming trapped inside my own body, with the same intellect but unable to speak, eat, clean myself or move,” she said. “I’m asking for NSW politicians to open their hearts and spare those battling crippling terminal illnesses like mine from an undignified, painful and drawn out death. Help me deny this bastard of a disease its last victory.”

    Can you please help me support her by doing what you can to get the bill passed.

    Jerome, great work to keep Eastwood Park free of cars. Some of my priorities for Eastwood (not in order of priority however):

    1, Educate people on littering, all through the centre and over to the park the discarded rubbish is a disgrace, every day and have ranger enforcing and fining people;

    2. Enforce the smoking ban in Eastwood plaza. People continually smoke there and no action is taken;

    3. Can we get an Indian Mynahr bird trapping program going near at least near the CWA and Progress Ave? I know Lane Cove Council has dun some work on this;

    4. Educate people on how to cross the road. Its a free for all. For example walking through the middle of a roundabout with little children is not a safe way to cross the road;

    5. Victor’s idea about traffic lights is problematic. Instead, remove the crossing at West Pde and provide a grade separated access from the railway line side to the head of the plaza and place barriers preventing pedestrian access all along that stretch. There is plenty of room on both sides to achieve this;

    6. Close off Rowe Street between Trelawney and The Avenue and close The Avenue itself to the roundabout at Hillview Lane and increase the size of the plaza. This removes the problem with the crossing near the NAB and stops cars shanking all the way through the centre. You only lose a few car spaces Make cars travel along Rutledge then Shaftsbury and Glen to get to the Glen St car park. This has been suggested for a long time now but no one listens;

    7. Reverse the traffic flow in Progress Ave and make it a left turn only to get out, this I recall was suggested in the 2014 study ;

    8. There has been too much piecemeal stuff going on in Eastwood and Victor’s proposal woudl have surely worsened this so i’m glad the car park proposals didn’t get a guernsey. There needs to be a broader approach before the current development sites get going and it becomes to late.

    I write in respect of council’s continuing policy of support for the free bus service operating within the municipality. I have, on previous occasions requested from council, a complete breakdown on its usage, including the percentage of non Ryde residents using the service. Council reluctantly provided annual patronage, with no details of non Ryde resident usage. Additionally, the bus windows are non transparent from both the rear and sides that makes it difficult to see how many people are in the bus.

    Ryde ratepayers should seriously question the appropriateness of council using ratepayer contributed funds to support a bus service that was initially introduced as a commercial, promotional step by Top Ryde City Shopping Centre to increase patronage at its shopping centre, and at its cost of operation, which is now funded by RCC, which is both under utilised and to the benefit of non Ryde residents.

    Whilst council obviously has a policy of bigger government, at the expense of ever increasing rates, surely the business of bus transportation should be left to the state government or private operators, who charge a fee for carriage.

    Hi Jerome, Robin Wolfson is my name. I’m good friends with Joshua Groenestyn and he said this was a good way to get in touch with you. Unfortunately I’m one of the affected families of the imminent closure of Top Ryde Early Learning Centre. I’m not sure if you’ve heard much detail, but basically the landlord sold the site to developers who in turn gave the day care until 2019 to relocate. Unfortunately those developers have themselves sold to another who will not extend the lease past 2017. The daycare did have a backup plan of moving next door to the school, however plumbing issues in that building means that option won’t be viable until mid 2018. Is there any way council can look in to the issue and try to get the developer to hold off taking possession until the problem is solved, rather than displace so many local families at very short notice with little available else where. I’d be happy to discuss this further with you if you need more information.

    Can you please let me know what is being done to resolve commuter parking in Eastwood. I understand that Mr Dominello has put $25m on the table but Council has been struggling to find a solution.

    Dear Ryde Council

    Dear Jerome, please please kindly assist.

    This morning the actual sewage had reached to the corner of Blaxland. My basic ph could not take a clearer pic to illustrate.

    My past experience with Public Health issues reported to Ryde Council, it was dealt with within hours and no more than 24 hours.

    Let me be clear – should this issues not being addressed when I walk past it tomorrow, I will send the complaint to the Public Health Dept of DOH.

    See green rivers of Europe, how green spaces are being designed to lower flood risk to properties

    Should a laneway be constructed between ovals it will may lead to increased flooding in shopping centre.

    Dear Mr. Jerome Lexale,

    We, residents of Ryde district are shock to learn that Electricity price is going up over 20% as from 01st July 2017, that is going to have extreme negative impact on the vulnerable residents like us who are already struggling with the sky-high costs of living at the moment!

    We were told that the parliament approved this rise! Was the Liberal MP Victor Dominello the one who make our lives more miserable?

    Queensland MP did a good job by blocking the hugh rise and only allow a rise of approx.7%, why NSW have to rise by over 20%???

    We rely on politicians to look after us but it turns out to be a disaster!!

    We can now only turn to you for HELP!

    Could you please do something to have this reversed or STOPPED otherwise many people will be badly suffering especially in the cold winter when we dare not turn on heaters and end up being illed and some even have to consider taking their own lives as it is getting more and more unbearable with the already high living costs!

    No other developed countries in the world have this type of increases which is outrageous, this need to be STOPPED once and for all!

    Inflation in Australia is well below 2%, how can it be justified to have the electricity cost jump by 20% which is more than ten times the inflation! The worst part is this is not the end yet, was told more of this rise to come in the next few years!!

    How are we going to live when electricity price is going to rise 20% every year when the pay rise is under 2%!!!

    And for the self funded retiree who rely heavily on the Bank Interest for living are also only earning approx. 2% interest rate which is hardly enough to meet ends meet!

    We do sincerely hope that you can intervene and have this outrageous electricity price increase STOPPED once and for all for the sake of all Australians.

    Thank you for your attention.

    On behalf of Ryde Local residents.

    Jerome, in the local paper this week, you were quoted as saying that it is the Insurers who will benefit from the changes in the Emergency Services Levy. I work in the Industry, and I am surprised, and somewhat confused by your comment/opinion. Can you pls give me a quick call so we can discuss this, because you are either getting incorrect information given to you, or you do not understand the changes at all. Will probably only need 5 minutes of your time. Thanks David.

    Also, I do agree with the criticism being shown to the NSW Govt over their handling and now backflip on this entire matter.
