I didn’t get a copy of the newspaper with the article about building a car park on the Eastwood oval. I was appalled. I am not surprised that Dominello has suggested it. For someone who was championing being the local Ryde boy, his silence on the amalgamations has been deafening, and this is another ill thought out idea. Definitely need to leave the oval alone. With so many units and soon, high rise unit buildings in Eastwood, it is essential to keep as much open space as possible. And, I add, while I am not a huge sports fan, this space is needed.

    Hi Jerome,

How about fighting to secure funding for the Eastwood County Road? With Macquarie Park becoming a major business hub, not to mention Macquarie University and Macquarie Hospital, the roads through West Ward linking western Sydney to Macquarie Park are not coping with the massive increase in traffic. The land was set aside for this much needed missing infrustructure to be built!

I voted ‘Yes’ to the Car Park Option as an Oval can be built on the top with better water drainage, Seating, facilities and lighting than the current oval can manage on an old Swamp ground it was built on. I support change for the better. Please make change work for the community, not at the expense of our local heritage. Add commercial Space on the outer rim of the car park that will pay for the facility.

    Morning Jerome,

Will you support us greyhound trainers?!

How much can one sport take .

We keep getting kicked , kicked and kicked .

Yesterday when the news to ban greyhound racing in NSW was reported I felt that down I have done nothing else except train greyhounds. Mike Baird employed Paul Newson to reform the industry. In the last 16 month greyhounds trainers have had to make their kennels bigger and other codes of practices we have had to abide by.

We have invested over $25k building a new kennels block to abide by these new codes and at this time was told everything will be ok.

Now 16months after Mike Baird put Paul Newson in to do the reforms he has now banned greyhound racing in NSW.

We have 13 races dogs for owners plus 17 pups under the age of 6 weeks old.

To breed these two litters again we had to go through vets to make sure the brood bitch was ok to breed from then paid for the service ect. This cost us in the vicinity of $8000 to breed this litter.

Mike Baird is talking about reimbursement no money is going to give me back what we will loose.

Now let’s talk about the animals the greyhounds that are now band .

Their is over 10,000 greyhounds in NSW how is the RSPCA going to rehome all these dogs.

Let’s face it the RSPCA put down 1 in 5 dogs already. They can not rehome all these greyhounds . Greyhounds will get put down that would probably have a long racing career .

I’m pleading to everyone who don’t know greyhounds but are going of what mike Baird is reading it is false.

Let me put this to you .

If you brought a greyhound pup for $3000

Then paid a rearer $2000 to get it reared till 12 months of age.

Then paid a person to school your greyhound to race $450.

Now you are paying a public trainer $50 a week do you really think if the dog was to slow to race you would go put it down!?

NO you have spent to much money you would find a trainer who is prepared to give your greyhound a go.

So don’t believe all this stuff that greyhounds to slow get put down at a young age!

    Also tell me this!

What back yard dog visits the vet weekly?

Do you worm and flea your dog monthly?

Do you spend $3.60kg on meat pure beef to feed your dog?

Do you spend over $50 for a bag of kibble?

Do you give your dog break fast ?

Does your dog get let out into a 50m x 30m paddock morning and night?

Does your dog get bathed weekly?

Do you put a coat on your dog every night?

Does your dog have a clean dry bed with blankets every night?

Does your dog get to go out and socialise with their own breed weekly and do what they love (running )?

So can you answer all these question YES!?

Well my dogs get all what I have asked above .

So do I treat my dogs bad like Mr Baird would like you to believe .

    Dear Mr Laxale

This morning a large semi-trailer carrying a container struggled up Young Parade, a narrow lane really with cars parked right along one side. As it came it broke off several branches from the trees beside the lane then went very close to touching the electric and other wires at the corner of Young Parade and Third Avenue. It found it very difficult to turn right into Third Avenue and needed several attempts to get around.

Later when we were taking our dogs for a walk I realised that the driver had been looking for a house on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Denistone Road. The problem was that he had entered the end of Fourth Avenue down near East Parade but Fourth Avenue is in effect two streets, quite different from each other with a park in between them. It is not possible to drive from lower Fourth Avenue to upper Fourth Avenue. And it is very difficult for a large vehicle to get through Young Parade at any time.

As you are aware the medical centre and Graythwaite rehabilitation centre are in upper Fourth Avenue. People seeking these and Ryde hospital often come along East Parade into lower Fourth Avenue looking for them. If they are lucky one of the locals can point out to them that this is lower Fourth Avenue, a different street from upper Fourth Avenue, and that they have come to the wrong place.

I have written to the council on a number of occasions suggesting a name change for one or other of the Fourth Avenues. I suggested the upper one be named Graythwaite Street but the council replied that it is too hard to change the name of a street just for the convenience of people looking for the medical centre, the Graythwaite rehabilitation centre or Ryde hospital. If you cannot change the name of one of the streets you might just by changing the road signs name one Upper Fourth Avenue and the other Lower Fourth Avenue.

I am not into thin edge of the wedge scenarios or fear of disaster anxieties but it is possible that one day a vehicle like an ambulance or a fire brigade might come to the wrong Fourth Avenue and the several minutes it takes to work out where they are, the semitrailer this morning took more than fifteen minutes, might be the difference between a life and a death.

    Yours sincerely

Just would like to know if you know why Ryde high is going primary instead of high school ? which is what we have be asking for for 5 years when I approach victor in 2011 when my son started kindy he told me Ryde high would never reopen and told me to send my son to holy cross or Marist now it’s going to be primary school? So many of us are confused and he taking credit and not giving what we need urgently in the first place what’s the story? Sincerely Maria Comito
