Hunters Hills Council is conducting a community consultation about their side of the Gladesville Town Centre. Below was my letter putting together some areas I think they should proritise.

Dear Mr Tobin
Gladesville Masterplan public exhibition
I refer to the Gladesville Masterplan which seeks to encourage renewal and upgrades within the Hunters Hill LGA and also the community consultation which is currently being undertaken in relation to the Masterplan.
Gladesville Town Centre is one of the five important Town Centres of City of Ryde and the eastern gateway into the City of Ryde Local Government Area (LGA). The Ryde Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) sets out a vision for Gladesville to evolve into a socially and economically successful mixed-use town centre.
Our community consistently tell us that our Town and Neighbourhood centres are vital to the liveability of our City. It is for this reason that I am seeking opportunities for the City of Ryde to collaborate with Hunters Hill to ensure that Gladesville is the best it can be.
Personally, I’d like to see below areas addressed as a matter of importance:
- • A pedestrian bridge connecting the site with Trim Place, thereby increasing pedestrian connections between Coulter Street, Gladesville Public School and Trim Place with the proposed new town centre
- • That should residential development occur, that a percentage of over 10% be mandated as affordable housing
- • That public domain upgrades as part of the proposed development be consistent with the existing look and feel of improved sections of the Gladesville Town Centre
- • Harmonisation with the Ryde LEP, particularly in areas of height and floor space ratio
I am aware that this exhibition is at the start of the process for Hunters Hill Council. I would appreciate if you would be able to hold a briefing for interested City of Ryde Councillors prior to the matter returning to Hunters Hill Council for consideration.
