Ryde Riverwalk Funding Confirmed

Labor Clrs George Simon and Jerome Laxale led a community campaign to demand the local member for Bennelong, John Alexander, and Infrastructure Minister, the Hon. Warren Truss, honour the previous Federal Government’s commitment to provide the funds

There had been serious concerns about the future of the project when the Government announced it would be slashing public spending, as well as reviewing the Programme that administered the grant funding for the project.

“We are delighted with this outcome. This just shows that when the community unites behind issues that are important to them, our politicians are forced to sit up and take notice.

The fact that the Federal Government has finally decided to confirm this funding means that Ryde Council can now get on with the job of delivering this great project to the community”

The Ryde River Walk is a project that will link Morrison Bay and Glades Bay Parks along the Parramatta River, encouraging more access and participation for residents in foreshore activities. The project will now be put to tender by Ryde Council.
