Save Ivanhoe

Despite promising an end to over-development "madness" the State Government have thundered ahead with their plans to build a 3500 unit monster development at the Ivanhoe Estate.

In a 76 page submission, Ryde Council has raised serious concerns about the NSW Government’s plans to build 3500 new dwellings on the corner of Herring and Epping roads at Ivanhoe Estate, warning that the new priority precinct will result in the destruction of endangered Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest and more traffic congestion on local roads.

The 3500 units set to replace the old Ivanhoe estate represents a 1250% increase on the 259 dwellings to be demolished by the NSW Government.

Member for Ryde, the Hon. Victor Dominello, has trumpeted the redevelopment of Ivanhoe Estate as a way for the Ryde community “to reap the benefits of community growth”.

Tell Mr Dominello and the State Government that we have had enough. Sign my petition to help Save Ivanhoe, and abolish priority precincts in Macquarie Park, North Ryde and Epping.

----------------------------

Mr Dominello,

Recently you said you wanted to stop the over-development "madness" in Ryde. How then is your Government thundering ahead with 3,500 unit monster development at the Ivanhoe estate in Ryde?

You've said Ryde has taken it's fair share; then why are you increasing density by 1250% on the site?

I oppose the removal of 858 trees and the destruction of the endangered ecological forest.

I object to the impact this monster will have on the Shrimptons Creek ecological corridor.

I am sick of sitting in traffic across our City, only to be made worse by this proposal which you support.

How can you say one thing in Ryde, and do another thing in Parliament? Stand with the Council and please abolish your priority precincts in North Ryde, Macquarie Park and Epping.

Regards,

Concerned Resident.

Is there no end to the destruction of open spaces and ecologically endangered trees and species ?

Is nothing sacred ? These remnants forests are disappearing from Sydney. The endangered trees and all their endangered animals and species which use this wildlife habitat are disappearing ALL DUE TO Mr ANTHONY ROBERTS , MS GLADYS BEREJIKLIAN AND ALL THE LOCAL MP’s (SUCH AS DOMINELLO AND STOKES (he spoke in parliament about how great medium density SEPP is… ) WHO ALL SUPPORT THIS DESTRUCTION. Removing 858 trees is NOT A BENEFIT TO COMMUNITY GROWTH !!! Gladys says , quote: Communities want their open spaces … …. well why is this NSW Govt destroying what is left in Sydney? Why are they squeezing more people into tight little apartment boxes everywhere with clogged up roads to drive on and horribly full buses and trains to commute on longer and longer journeys to work. Properly FREEZE OVER- and INAPPROPRIATE DEVELOPMENT.. STOP the MADNESS or GET VOTED OUT !!

Again, where is the Impact Assessment for this proposal and the money/infrastructure upgrades to meet these impacts?? The overall impacts need to be assessed, funded and infrastructure construction commenced now and not left to Section 94 or VPAs at DA stage and completion.

This is irrespective of the massive overdevelopment proposed by the Government’s back door methods.

These trees have taken many years to grow, the fauna in the area – where will they go? Birds need trees, bees need the flowers from the trees so that bees are fed and down the food chain, we have food. Too many people living so closely together causes great social problems, not to mention traffic management and how do people travel to/from work or anywhere without sitting in congested roads and trains?

Stop this overdevelopment madness. Your Government has quite literally destroyed Meadowbank and now is doing the same to Ryde and West Ryde. Epping and Eastwood are already basketcases. Bring on the election!!!

This is absolutely ridiculous! We are so over-developed, but of course Gladys’ government doesn’t give a hoot! They don’t have to live amongst the slum conditions that are being foisted upon us! Soon we will just be a concrete jungle, and will have to explain to future generations what trees were as there will be no evidence of them left! I am absolutely disgusted with what is happening in the Ryde Council area, courtesy of an uncaring State Government. Gladys, you have lost any thought of me voting for your Government in the next State election!

For goodness sake. Leave the trees, please. And SO many ugly plastic, combustible tower.

Sydney is choking with it all.

    We don’t need it.

This area has already been damaged by overdevelopment. Our streets are congested, rat runs proliferate and our street scapes are often ugly and becoming more so. This is how slum suburbs are built! Stop the overdevelopment. Save our community and our suburbs.

Stop making the City of Ryde an overcrowded area like many parts of Asia such as Hong Kong. Sydney DOES NOT have the infrastructure to have more people live in it. Such densely populated areas are the slums of tomorrow! Instead of “building up Sydney,” plan decentralisation west of the mountains. I’ve lived in the City of Ryde for 42 years and all the excessive development is spoiling Ryde. Why should long term residents begin to feel they no longer want to live in Ryde and be forced to move to the sticks away from our family and friends. STOP ruining the City of Ryde!
