Save Ivanhoe

Despite promising an end to over-development "madness" the State Government have thundered ahead with their plans to build a 3500 unit monster development at the Ivanhoe Estate.

In a 76 page submission, Ryde Council has raised serious concerns about the NSW Government’s plans to build 3500 new dwellings on the corner of Herring and Epping roads at Ivanhoe Estate, warning that the new priority precinct will result in the destruction of endangered Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest and more traffic congestion on local roads.

The 3500 units set to replace the old Ivanhoe estate represents a 1250% increase on the 259 dwellings to be demolished by the NSW Government.

Member for Ryde, the Hon. Victor Dominello, has trumpeted the redevelopment of Ivanhoe Estate as a way for the Ryde community “to reap the benefits of community growth”.

Tell Mr Dominello and the State Government that we have had enough. Sign my petition to help Save Ivanhoe, and abolish priority precincts in Macquarie Park, North Ryde and Epping.

----------------------------

Mr Dominello,

Recently you said you wanted to stop the over-development "madness" in Ryde. How then is your Government thundering ahead with 3,500 unit monster development at the Ivanhoe estate in Ryde?

You've said Ryde has taken it's fair share; then why are you increasing density by 1250% on the site?

I oppose the removal of 858 trees and the destruction of the endangered ecological forest.

I object to the impact this monster will have on the Shrimptons Creek ecological corridor.

I am sick of sitting in traffic across our City, only to be made worse by this proposal which you support.

How can you say one thing in Ryde, and do another thing in Parliament? Stand with the Council and please abolish your priority precincts in North Ryde, Macquarie Park and Epping.

Regards,

Concerned Resident.

Sydney is well over capacity. There is a failure of leadership from both sides of politics in addressing the overpopulation of Australia, while at the same time not adequately addressing the public infrastructure needs that our current citizens need. There is no point in having a ‘Big Australia’ if Governments don’t get the infrastructure right in the first place.

Meadowbank, Top Ryde and Epping Highway are already overdeveloped without any new infrastructure to support this huge increase in population. Local traffic is a nightmare for residents. Schools are bulging at the seams. Hospitals are understaffed and poorly funded. Trees are coming down. The Liberal Party and Victor Dominello are listening to rich, influential and self-interested developers instead of their voter base. Gross Domestic Happiness is more important than this reckless environmentally unsustainable push for even greater economic growth via increased population in a country which has had continual economic growth for over 24 years!! The slogan “Jobs and Growth” is a smoke screen for increasing Developer profits. These Post Truth “scare tactics” of Big Australia/Big Business who can afford to lobby our parliamentary representatives are deluding our politicians into betraying the very rate payers and voters they have been elected to represent.

As a resident less than a block from the proposed estates. I am very concerned about the addition of this many unitsd and its effect on all ready congested roads and public transport. Yes, it needs to be redeveloped but 3,500 units? Just too many. What is the rational behind this many units. What does the modelling say about effect on people movements?

As a resident of Eastwood for last 16 years, I absolutely oppose this ridiculous high density developments. Ryde is already over developed . You are destroying our environment , congesting our roads, and ruining our daily life. Please stop!!!! Ryde people do not want this kind building in their neighbourhood.

Please stop this over development, we do not have the infrastructure in the whole Ryde to support it….. It is effecting the lives of current residents – shockingly busy roads, primary schools full of demountables, lack of high schools, delays getting in and out of shopping centre and work places… Lets go back to the basics first!!

seems to be some wildly varying rules on tree conservation. Can’t prune a dead branch off a backyard tree and yet clearing valuable trees is ok? I don’t know the detail and will look into it so I am more knowledgeable but on the surface this doesn’t seem right.

I object to these developments along Shrimpton’s creek and Ryde in general!! Traffic along Epping road is just going to get worse than it already is.

This government is treating us though we were obedient lackeys. But she can’t get rid of us – we can get rid of her next year. This is not only a matter of providing accommodation for the people but doing it in a way that is acceptable to the electorate. Take note Ms Berejiklian, we think that this monstrosity that your government is thrusting upon us is a disgrace should be stopped and forthwith; be very fearful of the electorate.

This project is worthy of being compared with bull droppings!

Please do not go ahead with these plans for Ivanhoe Estate. Not only will it have terrible environmental impact, but also the traffic (which is already awful on Epping Road and surrounds) will be completely unmanageable!
